Tiffany Stimpson, LMSW
Our minds and bodies can resort to maladaptive coping skills after experiencing hardships and trauma. These coping skills help our bodies and minds navigate hardship initially but can be harmful in the long run. Therapy can help us understand these patterns and why they originated and find new ways to cope with difficult experiences or emotions. Therapy should entail becoming more connected with our environments and our bodies and assist us in becoming more in control of our journeys. All individuals are capable of healing, experiencing joy and fulfillment, and self-acceptance to live their lives to the fullest. Tiffany is a Licensed Masters Social Worker (LMSW). She graduated from Idaho State University with a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology in 2020 and Northwest Nazarene University with a Master’s in Social Work in 2024. She approaches therapy as a collaborative experience between client and therapist in sessions. Clients are experts in their own lives, and therapists should meet clients where they are in their journey. Tiffany utilizes an integrated modalities approach, tailoring approaches to each client’s needs. Tiffany uses evidence-based practices, including cognitive behavioral therapy, psychodynamic therapy, solution-focused behavioral therapy, somatic experiencing and sensorimotor therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, emotionally focused therapy, internal family systems, play therapy, and mindfulness. She also explores existential principles to assist clients with seeking meaning and purpose and finding direction. Tiffany also works with couples who are finding themselves stuck in patterns that feel dysfunctional and maladaptive. She strives to connect with each partner to validate their experiences and assist with creating positive change. Aside from some modalities listed above, she values research and utilizes the Gottman method to navigate communication, build emotional connections, and find new ways to experience one another. |

I am a licensed professional counselor and have a background in art and teaching. I recently graduated in 2024 with a Master’s in Counseling from Idaho State University. I’ve worked in the mental health field for three years and feel very fortunate to do so. It can be challenging to start counseling, but so much good can come from sharing your experience and not holding it in. I try my best to provide a space that is nonjudgemental, where you can expect that I will listen, do my best to understand your perspective and work together to find solutions. I have a warm approach and I’m drawn to concepts of acceptance and compassion and work from a Person Centered and Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT) lens. I hope to create a space that is welcoming to people from all walks of life, dealing with issues including anxiety, depression, anger, grief, trauma, stress, and relationships. I find the process of getting to know an individual and their struggles to be inspiring and enriching. It takes courage and strength to begin counseling and I would feel honored to be a part of your journey. |
